Week 39 Diet Tip

Nudges and puppy-eyed looks are requests for your attention!

Do not fall back into the trap of interpreting these requests as hunger. In most cases nudges, whining and whimpering occur when our dogs feel bored and are a way to reach out for interaction.

Giving a treat may seem like a quick fix but will do little alleviate boredom or your dog’s need for attention.  Imagine the result if every time a child said “I’m bored” and we gave then a biscuit or icecream!

Instead get up and interact with your dog for at least 5 minutes. Play a game, take a walk outside to give your dog a toilet break, or get down on the ground and pet your dog. A 5-minute break to stretch the legs will do you both wonders 🙂
